Banshee is a welcoming community for women, non‑binary, and transgender people who love nerd culture but don’t always feel comfortable in male‑dominated spaces. We don’t gatekeep or form cliques.
We celebrate curiosity, creativity, and fellowship through a wide range of activities, from board game nights and crafting circles to Dungeons & Dragons workshops, movie screenings, museum trips, writing clubs, and even archery sessions.
If members are excited about an idea, we give them the freedom and time to bring it to life.
Whether you’re a seasoned gamer, a budding author, a craft enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys a good sci‑fi film, Banshee offers a supportive place to explore, learn, and have fun together.
We are based in The Netherlands. Most of our members live in Amsterdam and the surrounding areas, but we also have organized events in Haarlem, Utrecht, Rotterdam, and The Hague. After attending an in-person meeting, you’ll receive an invitation to our (discord) server, where most members stay connected, share resources, and plan future activities.
Our History
Founded in 2016 as a safe gathering for nerdy women, Banshee began with a handful of friends meeting over board games and shared fandoms. The community naturally grew to welcome trans and non‑binary members, showing our commitment towards inclusivity.
Over the years, we expanded beyond gaming and cosplay. Regular board‑game meetups evolved into handicraft sessions, writing circles, and themed workshops.
We added Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, movie nights, museum outings, and even archery workshops driven by member interest.
Today, Banshee is a lively space where various passions intersect, all rooted in the same spirit of openness that sparked our founding.
Our Organization
Banshee is entirely volunteer‑run. A core team of event organizers helps keep the calendar full, but anyone in the community can propose and lead an event.
Decision‑making is shared: ideas are discussed openly, and events move forward when there’s sufficient enthusiasm. This flat structure ensures that every voice can shape the club’s direction, keeping Banshee fresh, dynamic, and true to its inclusive roots.
