To join, go to our page on Meetup.com. We’ll ask you a few questions, and then you’ll be free to sign up for events or join our online community.

Our group is explicitly for cis women and trans people. Our purpose is to create a community for people who don’t always feel safe, comfortable, or accepted in mainstream nerd spaces because of their gender.

This is a trans-friendly group where we don’t turn people away based on their gender presentation or assigned gender at birth. We trust you when you tell us what your gender is.

Yes! We have a Discord server with channels on different nerdy topics, from video games and manga to books and crafts. Plus a channel dedicated to pets and other animals.

To join our online community, first join the group on Meetup.com. Once you’re a member, you can send us a message on Meetup.com and someone will set you up.

Yes, we use English as the primary language for the group, and all events are in English.

However, we have members from all over the world, including the Netherlands, and many of us speak more than one language. If you’re not 100% comfortable in English, let us know and we’ll try and match you up with a member who speaks your native language.

There’s no fee to join Banshee, and many of our events are free. If we organize an event at a museum or other venue that charges a fee, then the event description on Meetup.com will have all the details.

We do have some group expenses, like our yearly fee for Meetup. So, we occasionally ask members if they’d like to donate to help cover our costs, but this is always optional.

Any member can organize an event. If you’re new to the group, we ask that you attend one or two events before volunteering to organize one yourself.

If you’d like to organize an event, contact us here or on Discord and one of our organizers will help you post your event on Meetup.com and announce it to the group.

Most events are for members only, but for some of our events, you can bring partners, children, or friends. When you sign up for an event on Meetup.com, please read the description to see if it’s okay to bring a guest with you. If guests are welcome at an event, you will be able to add them to your Meetup RSVP and bring them with you to the event. All guests must be accompanied by a member.

You are welcome to take photos at events. But please ask for permission before taking photos of Banshee members or posting photos of members on social media or elsewhere.

Banshee is not a place to find a romantic partner or hit on other members. If romance should happen, that’s okay, but please keep it out of the official meetup events.

If another member makes you feel uncomfortable, please contact the organizers.

View our code of conduct {link to be added} for guidelines on interacting with other members and participating in events. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

We’re in the process of applying to become an official association or club (that’s a vereniging in Dutch). A small group of volunteers manages the administration of the club and our online community..

We also have an Advisory Board that helps us ensure that all types of members have a voice in how our association is run and how we evolve.

If you’re interested in helping out, let us know.

Thanks for asking, that’s very generous of you! Please get in touch if you’d like to donate money or services to support our club.
